You Don't Have to Be Annoying to Start Your Own Internet Business 

I Could Hardly Wait! Today was the day for Two Thousand Five Hundred dollarsof diet pills and powders to come to our home. My wife was on the phone telling me that the UPS truck had come to the house today and left plenty of boxes of our new Power Packed diet programs. The plan was to sell them myself, and get the funds rolling in my new business venture.  Being at the house and putting everything together was now my goal. I would start my own program tomorrow and see some results then getting rid of my inventory and making a profit would happen quickly. I had so much fun putting it all in order and where ever I went I had my new weight loss kits with me. If I saw you and you looked friendly I started telling you how great this stuff was, and did just like my up-line said I should do. Along with doing that I lined up every body I knew for the same reason.
A Few Months Later...
I though about how everything had failed and would remind myself about how lousy I was as a salesman. My wife (God bless her) did not stoop to saying it, but her eyes and actions clearly told me, "I told you so." You would need to do some amount of involved keyword research before exploiting it. It would be very difficult for an IM'er, not interested in vintage computing to compete in this market. The sites ranking for the below keywords are mostly sites and blogs created and maintained by individuals with a passion for vintage computing, not just the hardware, but the concept. They take it seriously, and it's more than just a hobby to them.... They are indeed, purveyors of forgotten technologies antiquated by time and purpose. They find passion in vintage "laptops" weighing over 20 pounds.  Let's just say it's a very specific niche for the brave internet marketer to explore.
However, what makes it interesting for the IM'er is the data we can pull from Google on this niche:
buy vintage computer=1.3million broad/ 24,700 exact
order vintage computer online=4.8million broad/0 exact
vintage computer washington d.c.=258k broad/1 exact
buy antique computer=too narrow, antique desks populate this keyword, not antique pc's

Although most of the sites ranking on the top SERP's tend to be ones run by those very same geeks, what's interesting is that not many are using long tail keyword phrases in their SEO/SEM strategy. 1) Use the specific keyword phrase "buy antique mac" on a blog devoted to, of course, "antique mac's". If it's a site you're hosting and not a free web 2.0 property, you can add in eBay Auctions to your Website with this little gem from http://www.phpbay.com it'll scour ebay for you and dish out relevant auctions on that very same keyword. Throw in some video of vintage mac tv commercials, if you can find them, to further entice prospective customers.... And a pair of eyes is just one click away from becoming a customer.
2) Research the keyword further and dig into sites with tips on how to buy vintage mac's, what to look out for when buying vintage mac's, vintage mac replacement parts, vintage mac accessories, maybe even vintage mac magazines. Hand over your research ideas to a ghostwriter and have a "How to Buy Vintage Mac's" ebook written. And sell it.
3) Build an email list of devoted "buy vintage mac" customers and send out a monthly newsletter full of quality content with value to them, then exploit the list occasionally by running lateral sales and services promotions.
4) Build as many Squidoo, wetpaint, weebly, zimbio, etc. properties as you can related to this topic and use them as feeder sites to your money page.
Will you get rich off this niche? Probably not. But you could exploit it to the extent that it generates an easy $50 - $200 in sales a month without really putting that much effort into it, allowing it to be yet another stream of revenue flowing to you.

Would you like to know how to check how many times your keyword term has been used by online browsers in a month? Would you like to know if the product you want to sell as affiliate will actually find some buyers?  There are several ways to give you an idea about the previous sales of a given product, and help you to know if you have a good chance or not to sell the product yourself.  Please note, however, that there isn't a 100% definite recipe to know in advance if a product will sell or not. If there were, all the companies would use it and their stock would be sold out every single day. Unless you have been living under a rock for the past 12 months you will have come across the term niche marketing. This has been a hot for the last couple of years but it looks as though it is only heating up further in the months and years to come.  If you are not familiar with this method of Internet marketing, it is all about focusing on a very small and targeted niche of interests and customers.  For example niche is really a market within a market. If I were to use dog training as an example, the real niche within this could be something like Alsatian dog training or how to stop a labrador from barking.  Can you see how that is focusing on one very small area of a particular topic?  This has become hugely popular and very profitable because of the low levels of competition on the Internet and within the search engine positions.
